This chapter opens with a sigh from Eve. She's afraid that the monster will kill them all if they don't get rid of the baby. Eve tells the others that they've done their best to bring the baby up, but it turned out to be a monster. They're the ones who have to die, Eve tells them, even if they have to kill the child for "honor's sake" . Eve is the only one who has to suffer and die, and she's the one who's going to be the first to die.
