The next morning, Donovan and the others discuss the various legends they've heard about wolves. The first is that of the "Amarok," an enormous wolf who terrorizes "contagious hunters." On the other hand, there's the "Navajo" legend, which says that skinwalkers dressed in wolf-skin pelts can turn into wolves. Donovan's got a plan, he says, but he's not sure how to execute it. He's afraid they'll have to continue walking on their own, and he needs a little "booster" to make it happen. He gives the booster back to the guy who's supposed to administer it, and the two of them head out to find the wolves.
