A few hours later, on the island of techeco, a group of men and women are on their way to a shindig. One of the men tells them that he and his partner, stevens, have been discussing the possibility of setting up a new plant in southeast Asia. The men are surprised to see that the man is still working late. The man apologizes, saying that he is aware that not all people have the same opportunities. He says that sometimes he would like to give up his status as a middle-class white man and his platinum amex in order to be with the woman he loves. He tells the men that they should live their own lives, not the lives they want them to live. As they are about to leave, the man calls out to the women to stop talking on their cell phones and to take their eyes off their phones. He then tells the women that he will be home late that night.
