About This Chapter
Two months have passed since the accident, and the Governess is still angry. She tells the president that the government has given the company 15 percent of the capital to build a new, more energy-efficient electric vehicle. She also tells him that the project has taken ten years to complete, and that no one has been able to demolish it. The Governess tells him a story about a boy who broke his neck when he stole a marble from her house. He should have known that the technology was not as good as it seemed, she says. She asks the president to get out of the way so that she can "get out while she can." She tells him to leave the "rattling" to the "real men" and to "close the door softly" on his way out. The doctor is positive that she will be able to walk again. He tells her that if she had not woken up, she would have told the children that their mother did not want them to live anymore. She says that if the insurance company finds out what happened, they will have to sell their house and pay for the hospital bills. She is sure that she would kill herself if she found out that he was cheating on her.
