About This Chapter
The narrator says that the downside of having a flywire is that he can't be connected to the outside world. He also says that he has to explain himself all the time, which is humiliating. The narrator then goes on to say that the biggest downside is the sense of forgetting important things. He says that if he had a list of things to do, he would be able to go to the grocery store and buy supplies. He then says that people think he's a "frywire" because he doesn't have a number. He's an ex-cop, he says, and he'll have rain down on him so fast that he won't think that he took a laxative. He tells the narrator that he hates starting the day the way it is. He wants to know what's wrong with the flywire. He asks if the target has been locked up. The mother yells at him to repeat the last command, but the narrator says it's better to have an inner-video flywire than an adventure patch. He calls for an emergency crew to come and clean up the mess. The mom says that she's just a "real lady" and that the narrator is "ogling" . She tells him to stop talking about her and to ask the brat if he wants to talk to her. She says she'll talk to him later. He replies that he should just ask her.
