In this chapter, Desdemona and Deryn discuss their relationship. Deryn tells her father that she loved him more than anyone else she's ever known. She also tells him that he's forgotten something important about her, and that she wants him to meet a "friend" of hers. She tells him to stop talking about her with Deryn, because she has a "damaged flywire" .
