About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the downside of being a flywire is that you're constantly forgetting things. For example, you've got to go back to the old fashioned way of dealing with people: you have to talk to them, not just talk to yourself. This is a big problem for a guy like Bellarius, because he's constantly thinking about what's going on in his head. He's got a lot of sexual fantasies going on, but he can't tell Bellarius what he just did. Bellarius says he hates starting the day the way it is. He wants to know if Bellarius has a new gun, a new target lock, or a new lock on the door. He also wants to ask the brat if she's sure that the guy who's bleeding all over her carpet is the same guy who tried to stab him in the guts. He doesn't want to worry about the kid, though, because the cops are sending a squad to check on him. The guy who was trying to stab Bellarius is a "dildo" , which is a slang term for a sex toy. So Bellarius thinks it's great that the cops sent a squad over so they could check on the kid. He says he'd rather be the guy with the gun and the target lock than the kid with the knife and the gun. He thinks Bellarius's eyes are brown, and he wonders what the two goons were trying to kill him with. He asks Bellarius if he can keep an eye out for the kid until his mom gets back from work, and Bellarius replies that his job is to watch the kid and not his own. He wonders why Bellarius hasn't spent more time
