This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the story, when the narrator is a young boy and his childhood friend isshikifuji is being chased by an overly attached monster. The narrator is horrified by the sight of his friend's monster. He is also shocked by the sound of the monster's footsteps. He realizes that the monster must have been trying to kiss his friend. He also realizes that his friend has also been chased by the monster.
