The chapter opens with the kitten, Nemo, singing a song about how he loves his little brother, Nemo Jr. The song begins with a creak, followed by a squelch, and ends with a thrust. The kitten asks his father, Mr. Nemo, to buy him a ring, which he thinks is a sign that Nemo is being taken. The father, however, does not buy the ring, and the kitten is left alone. He tells his father that he has been sleeping in Mr. and Mrs. Nemo's room, and that he wants to go out with them on a date. When he learns that they are off work, he asks if he can stay with them, and they reply that he can. He then asks if they can go out for a date, and he is shocked to learn that they do not sleep in the same room as him. He asks them if they would like to go for a walk. They reply that they would, but that he is not a kid, so he can sleep by himself from now on. He goes on to tell them that his brother, kurosu, is the only person he has ever heard talk about before. He says that when he was younger, his brother used to talk about a teacher who was "annoying" to him, and then he would say that his teacher was "bad mouthing" him. Nemo says that he was getting into fights with another kid lately, and this kid tries to eat him with lunch, but he is having a bad pain in his ass. He is glad that he and his brother are together, because he is "not happy at all"
