The party is over, and everyone is gone except for Vivian. She apologizes for her behavior, and says that she and her father know the truth. She invites everyone over for dinner, and tells the boy that she will stay with him all the time. The boy says that he can't, because he's at school all day, but that he'll go. He's not angry, he says. He just wants to calm his dad down. He tells her that since she came to the house, she's been disliked by everyone, and that's why she shouldn't bother going to school anymore. She tells him that she didn't want to upset him, because she was worried about her future. She asks him to tell her the whole truth about her mom and her dad. He doesn't seem to know.
