The bakery manager, Mr. Wing, comes to the rescue, telling Linda that their expenses have risen recently, and she should stop by the bakery during the evening when they're free. He tells her that he'll make her some coffee, and then he leaves. He says that they should help Linda because the bakery is a charity, and not because Linda is a hard-working woman, but that she should quit her job at the bakery and go work for Linda at her cafe. Mr. and Mrs. Wing agree that Linda is determined to keep the bakery open.
