In this chapter, Roxane and Emma reminisce about their childhood together. Emma tells Roxane that she used to have to lie to her father about an earthquake in order to get him to believe that they were aliens. She tells him that even if she told him they were like everyone else, he would still believe it. Emma asks Roxane to spend the night so that she can bring her father over for dinner. When she leaves, she tells Emma that she is leaving out of sympathy. She says that she has always been her choice, and that she needs her for what she has done.
