This chapter's epigraph comes from a poem by a poet named Laith. The poem describes a storm that has struck the city of Medillum, and the inhabitants of the city have been forced to flee. Laith, however, has survived the storm. He tells the audience that he lost a man in the storm, and that he plans to go to Medillum and find out what he can do to help the people.
