About This Chapter
Laith wakes up in the forest, looking for a boat to go to the ocean. He's got nothing to do but stare at the wall of stones that separates the forest from the river. The river is blocked, and he can't find a way to get there. He begs the two men to take him to the minister and his family. The two men agree to go, but they don't know where the rat Laith is. They're only kids, so they'll have to wait until they can find the rat. The doctor and his wife come to the rescue, and Laith tells them that the mudakan needs a doctor immediately. He also tells the doctor that he's going to make sure that the murderer's name is remembered by everyone. He asks the doctor to bring back the globe with the rat's blood on it, so that he can take care of it when he gets back to medillum. Laith says that the doctor is a madman, and that he saw a doctor do the same thing to his father before. He says that everything that happened is his fault, and the doctor should just tell him what's bothering him.
