In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist is an "omega" and that he is in love with an "alpha" . We learn that he was once married to an alpha, and that the man who lives next door to him is now married to a "beta" , which means that the two of them are in love. The protagonist tells us that he wants to see his sister-in-law, but he doesn't know how to get there. He wants to talk to her, but she is too cold to talk. He tells her that he will take her home, but that if he stays out too long, he'll get cold. He asks her why she isn't going home, and she tells him that she's the same age as the protagonist's sister. She says that her father remarried, and now she has a step-mother and a young brother. She tells the protagonist that his first meeting with the protagonist was the worst one he's ever had.
