The next morning, Mr. Manette tells his wife that he's going to go back to China. He tells her that he doesn't want her to be jealous of anyone else. He says that he will always like her until the end of the world, and that she will always love him. He asks her if she's jealous of him, and she says that she is. She says that if he were jealous, he wouldn't be able to play the guitar anymore, and he would have to sit and watch her and her children. She tells him that he can't just look at her and think that he is being ridiculous. She asks him if he cares what other people think. He replies that he only cares what his wife thinks.
