The chapter opens with Bo's mother calling for her son to go away. She is worried that the young master has taken over all of the family's assets, and she wonders if he is able to do this because of his parents' bad luck. The young master tells her that he has suppressed the toxins in his body and that he might have to do it again. He tells her to take some more of his blood and drink it. He says that his blood is the "foundation of human life" and that it is the best way to remove toxins from the body. He adds that he still needs to improve the quality of the blood so that it can be used as medicine. He then tells her not to move and not to be afraid because he will be responsible if she loses control.
