In this chapter, we learn that the ghost of Dr. Bledsoe has fallen asleep in the car with the woman he has fallen in love with. The ghost wonders why the woman makes him feel this way. He also learns that the icy cold toxin in his body has run its course. He wonders what he should do now that he has run out of the drug. He says that he's been a doctor for a long time, but he has never seen a "good figure like this" before. He thanks the woman for her help, and says he'll repay her later when he has the chance. The woman leaves, and the ghost wonders if he should have thrown the man by the road earlier.
