About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the cherry blossom fair that's going on at the house of one of the girls in the story. It's called the "hina girls' day festival" and it's supposed to be a big party for all the girls. The girl in question is Chima, and she asks her friend yukimiya if he'd like to come to the party. Chima tells him that she found a trinket in her room the other day that she'd forgotten about. The trinket is a rib, and Chima says that she finds it all the time when she rummages through her room. She says that when she was a kid, she and her friends used to talk about having a girls' party. Everyone would dress up as a girl and everyone else would dress as a boy, and they'd joke that you couldn't take part in the party if you didn't wear a girl's dress. But now that Chima is dressed up, she says, she's fine. She's had a cold recently, so she doesn't want anyone to get sick from it. She also says that her eyes are red from the cold, and that she hasn't had a hay fever yet, but she'll probably get one in the future. She asks if he has his glasses with him, and he says yes. He's wearing them even when he's not studying, because they block the pollen in his eyes. He says that his parents are unaffected by the hay fever, but he still has it, so he'll get it soon enough.
