The chapter opens with a conversation between Bela and her driver. Bela tells the driver that she wants to go to a party, but that she doesn't want to go without her brother Howell. The driver agrees to take her to the party, even though he thinks Bela is a "rich kid" who only knows "how to club" and "has no knowledge" . He tells Bela that the party is packed with famous guests, including Anxi, and that they've even invited an idol to the finale . The young driver tells her that the name Anxi sounds familiar to him, and she tells him not to infect her with the cold he's just gotten from the wind. She tells him to give Howell a call first, but he won't listen to her, because no one answered his call. He says he'll try another time, and Bela says that she'll wait for him. She says that the other side of the street buzzes with a festival going on, and the young driver says that there's no one to answer the phone. He's going to block it, he says.
