This chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which we learn that Dr. Bledsoe was once a part of a dream in which the ghost of the dead woman was included. The ghost is described as "a ghost ! . . ominous oh my! What's that? Help me ! There's a ghostly presence in the room. Dr. Lockwood tries to comfort Lockwood, but he can't get him to stop thinking about the ghost. He's too busy killing people to remember what's going on in the dream.
