About This Chapter
The next day, Ming decides to peel garlic and wash vegetables. He tells his teacher that he doesn't like the dishes she's cooking for him, and that he'd rather have someone else make them for him. Ming's mother is nearby, and Ming is upset that she didn't let him in on the secret of the dishes he's making for her. He's also upset that his father is away at work, so he'll have to stay home with his new friends. Ming tells his mother that he wants to make friends, even if it means washing vegetables or peeling garlic. He also tells her that the teacher asked him what dishes he liked to eat, and he could only give two dishes. The teacher said that Ming could have named ten dishes that he liked that day. Ming says that he can't understand him, because he always does things that he dislikes, but that he has never shown concern for his son before. He says that if his brother finds out that he made Ming cry, he will think that Ming was wrong, but Ming is grown up now, and can make his own decisions. That night, Ming gets some dimsum from his uncle, who comes to give him a pimslim. Ming asks about the new game that the company has just released, and his uncle tells him that it's the same game as the one he gave him.
