In this short scene, Jackie asks for cat food, which she finds in the ashes of her father's funeral pyre. Jackie tells Jackie that she has heard a lot of things about her, and that she is the editor of the school newspaper. She asks Jackie if he is the boyfriend of Kim, and Jackie says that he is not yet, but he is trying to be a good friend to her. He tells her that he does not want her to tell her father about him, and asks her if she will ever tell him about him. She tells him that she loves him so much that she cannot live without him. When Jackie's mother asks if Jackie will be staying with her for the new year, Jacky says that she will have to go to a friend's house for a friend. Jacky is relieved that his father is feeling better, and says that his mother is just "flustering." Jacky asks if his mother will stick around for New Year's, and he says that her mother agreed that it would be best to do so in the spring. He says that when he found Kim that time, he felt "so much regret" that he wanted to make amends for failing Kim as a father, but Kim never went against his will.
