12 years ago, a young woman named Rosa ran away from her family and ran off with her "friend" . Rosa's grandmother came to visit her and told her that Rosa is her daughter, too. Rosa is upset that her family has lost so much, and she tells her grandmother that she has told her father that she would like to have Rosa come live with her. She says that her mother has been making excuses for not having come to live with Rosa for ten years. Rosa asks her grandmother to keep the bracelet that her friend gave her, but her grandmother refuses to do so. She tells Rosa that her father has not been well since his funeral. Rosa tells her that she should be there to comfort him, but she says that she is busy.
