In this chapter, we learn that Colin has been trying to blackmail Mr. Shen, who has come to see if he can help him win the bid for the Shens' company. Colin, however, has already won the bid, and the shens have no choice but to retaliate against him and his family. The shens' representative tells Colin that they have lost the bid and that he should hurry up and leave the family. He tells him that he raised him like his own son, and that without him, he would have been "another punk crushed by weight of debts for all eternity. He promises to give him the chance to redeem himself.
