In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, a young man named Nemo. Nemo's name is ironic, since he is the one who has led Nemo to this point in his life. Nemo explains that he has given Nemo everything he will ever need, including an empty note paper. Nemo asks Nemo if he is sad, and Nemo replies that he is. Nemo says that they are all like each other, and that killing each other is like killing animals. Nemo wonders why the gods allow this to happen. He says that if he were a god, he would kill each other's devices, like animals. He asks Nemo to sing a song that soothes the soul of a dead body. Nemo admits that he never thought he would live to see this day. He wonders where they will go from here.
