About This Chapter
In this short scene, the audience is introduced to the play's protagonist, a young man named Jak. He is a member of the royal family of a prosperous kingdom. One day, the kingdom holds a birthday party for a beautiful princess, but the princess is not invited to the party. The protagonist wonders why the princess does not want to be a part of the party, and wonders why she has to be engaged to another prince. He also wonders why he has to marry another man, when he has met a man who loves him. In the meantime, the protagonist notices that there is a talented student at the school, and he claps to let the students know that he is there to perform. He then realizes that the students are possessed by a "rogue" and that he must hide them from the audience.
