About This Chapter
The ship's captain, Jack Sparrow, has been the captain of the Black Pearl for thirteen years, and he has paid Sparrow one soul to serve on the ship. Sparrow is shocked that the captain has not paid him back. He tells him that he has three days before he has to bring him 100 souls to the ship, and that he is a diamond, a noble man, and a terrific soprano. He asks if he can live with the boy, who has been stolen from him. Jack Sparrow replies that he feels "sullied and unusual" because he has one arm and one bum leg. He says that he chased a mail ship across the seven seas and lost all his crew and his life in the pursuit. He wants to kill Jack Sparrow now, but Jack Sparrow tells him not to worry, because he will find the heart of Davy Jones.
