About This Chapter
In this short scene, Bennett explains that he has arranged passage to England for his friend, the captain of the ship, who is also a friend of Bennett's. Bennett also tells Bennett that the captain has offered to pardon him if he will help him find Jack Sparrow, but Bennett refuses to accept the offer, saying that he will not endure the sight of his daughter's execution for 21 days. Bennett then tells Bennett about the apparitions that have been seen on the ship. The first is that of a young woman, who must have died on the wedding day. The second is that there is a female presence among the men, and Bennett fears that this means that the spirit of the dead woman is present. Bennett asks Bennett to get a privateer's license so that he can go out into the ocean and search for Jack Sparrow. Bennett says that he wants to do a dangerous job for him too, and he fears that his friend's death will be the result of his mistake. Bennett tells Bennett to go ahead and get the license, because he has a dangerous task ahead of him. He says that the only thing he knows about the sea is that it is "the roar of theken kraken" . The only thing that can stop him is a human being who can't stand against it. Bennett reminds Bennett that they need to go to the ship of the flying Dutchman, who has a key to his ship. They need to find him because he keeps his key with him all the time.
