When the train arrives, the protagonist is overcome with emotion. He tells his mother that he has become a "mosquito freak" because his grandfather died from an ant-borne disease. He says that he plans to create a "poison" to kill all the mosquitoes in the world. When he was 26 years old, he opened a factory that made the best bug-killing spray. Unfortunately, some of the mosquitoes that were sprayed with the bug-killer became "mutated" and shed their skin. The protagonist says that it has been some time since he's been bitten by a bug. He has an important meeting to attend, and the skin on his hands and feet is starting to dry up. He's seen lots of the same bugs in the past, but now he hates them.
