About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to Biyuan and his mother, Lingying, who have been living in exile in the mountains for many years. The elder Lingying tells Biyuan that his mother is a good person, and that she has taught him everything he needs to know. He also tells him that he should not doubt his mother's good opinion of him, because she has fulfilled his wish to be with her. He tells her that he is afraid that they will not be able to see each other as often in the future, because the palace is not a prison. Lingying says that the empress is too much of a bully, and she can't bully her just because she doesn't gain favor. She says that she took Lingying away from the palace and settled her in another house. Soon after, westernpanxia invaded the border, and Lingying had no choice but to leave her and lead the troops to battle. The battle lasted for half a year, and the emperor was furious and banished Lingying into the cold palace. After that, Lingering was devastated and left the valley and lived there. Her brother gave her a sword, which he had left behind with Lingying. He says that he has found his father, and he has to hurry and return.
