About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young heroine, Aurora, meets a flying mouse, who welcomes her to the land of the southern sea. She asks the mouse to show her around, but the mouse refuses, saying that he is always with her, and that she is always alone. She tells him that she has seen a boy with her and asks him to leave her the boy's clothes. She then tells the mouse that she bought him some new ribbons, and he says that if only she were like hers all the time, he would choose hers. The mouse then tells her that if the boy is not underwater, then he would know where to find him. He says that he has seen the boy some places, but that it is no use knowing where he is. He tells her to go home, and she says that she loves the boy, but sometimes it feels painful to be in love. She says that when they had to say their goodbyes, she acted as if it was nothing, and told the boy that she loved him first. Then a huge wave hit them, and they were forced to say goodbye. She feels that if she were in love, she would be able to hear the beautiful voice of the boy and feel the warm glow of the sky.
