This chapter opens with a soliloquy by Tank, in which he laments the fact that he has lost so much money. He compares himself to a dyer who has to dye thousands of bodies in order to make a single drop of dye. He then goes on to discuss a device called a "rope-launcher," a device that allows people to scale walls and traverse between trees with a rope. The hook is made of titanium alloy, and the rope is made from carbon fiber.
