In this chapter, the protagonist explains that he is a student at a school in a poor part of town. He and his friend, Wiji, have taken up the secret of calculating the chivalric power by multiplying it by the number of students in the school. They hope to use the power to help their school and the future generations. Wiji tells the protagonist that he and the other students will not be able to guarantee that the future recipient of the government fund will be the future leader of the school, but that they will have a chance to do so if they are admitted as future recipients of the fund. The protagonist tells Wiji that he will not sleep at night because he will be hit by a bullet, and that his career will be over if he does not cooperate with the plan. He also tells him that he knows a place where they can continue their plan.
