In this chapter, we learn that the girl we met earlier in the story is named meidi, and that she is a student at a university in Shanghai. She has come to the hospital to explore with some of her classmates, and she is the one who got dragged into an elevator. She is the same girl that we saw in the beginning of the story, and the two of them are horrified at the idea that a girl could possibly pose a threat to them. They are horrified by the fact that the monsters are responsible for the deaths of the other students, and they want to know what the cause of their classmates' deaths is. They decide to go with a doctor named Tan Xu, who they grew up with, to find out. They have not seen each other for ten years, but they know that it is better to be friends than to be with monsters. They agree that it would be better if they knew each other's cause of death, and so they go with the doctor. They discuss how curious the students were when they arrived at the hospital, and how they should have been able to escape, since the place has been so safe for so long. The doctor, however, is not a bad man, and he probably saved the students. The two decide to get dressed and get ready for the adventure.
