In this short scene, the narrator laments the fact that his first love has been stolen and trampled upon. He tells his friend, Noel, to get out of the way of the "brat brat" that is elena. Noel tells him that they are now "a couple" and that he can't compare the three of them to each other because "they're irreplaceable for me" . He also tells her that Justine is moving to New York and that she will be writing a book about her experiences there. He asks her why she has to come to the U.S., and she says that she has come to stay for good. He then asks her where she is going at the hour, and when she replies that it seems weird to him, he says that he knew it and that now Justine has a boyfriend instead of being "happy for her" , and he asks her to think about what she wants to do and act accordingly. She says that no matter how hurt she is now, she has never regretted knowing Justine. She then invites him to meet her at the train station.
