In this chapter, the vampire explains why he has to become human: he wants to be free of the fear of becoming a vampire forever. He tells the reader that he was born with blood in his veins, but that he can't become a vampire because he's afraid of getting "free from it forever" . He goes on to say that the mall is right next to where they're going to watch the movie, which makes him dizzy.
