In this chapter, we're introduced to a new character, a dance instructor named "Shucks" . Shucks is a guy who's been teaching dance for a long time, but he's never been in a dance competition before. He's got a lot to teach, and he doesn't know how to keep up with the fast-paced routines at competitions like this one. We learn that Shucks has been teaching a dance called "Slow Dance," which is basically a dance that starts out slow and ends up moving faster than you can say "slow dance." Shucks complains that his students are dancing too fast, and that they're making a big deal out of the fact that it's their last dance together as a couple. He also complains that the judges are judging the dances based on how fast they move, not how well they dance. This is a problem, he says, because the judges don't care if the dancers are skilled or not. He wants to know what's wrong with his students, so he asks them to clap for him. They do, and Shucks says he wants to see more of his students.
