In this chapter, the narrator reflects on the performance of the "shrew" and the "threw's" team. He feels that they are "a unified force" . He wonders about the girl who is leading the team, and he wonders if she is in middle school. He also wonders if the girl will be able to stay with the team long enough to win the competition. He thinks that once she trusts him, she will be like a "horse in one way" , and she will "wind up quittin'" the team.
