The next morning, the two women dance the waltz, which they've been practicing all day. The first time they dance together, they're so engrossed in the dance that they can barely see each other. The second time, however, they realize that they don't have to worry about each other because they have a partner. They're dancing with a man named Hiroyuki, who's competing in the same amateur dance competition as Hiroyuki's partner, Yonada. Yonada is a good dancer, but he's not good enough to beat Hiroyuki in a dance contest. The two women continue to dance, and Yonada tells them that they'll have to get Hiroyuki out of the way if they want to continue.
