This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Caius reveals that he has fallen in love with Valeria. Caius explains that he wants to find someone to help him in his quest to find love for Valeria, but he is unable to do so because he is too rich to marry her. He also explains that if he marries a client, the marriage will be seen as he has willingly given up his "shared boyfriend system" . This is the "golden opportunity" given to him by God, he says, and he decides that he will not force Caius to marry Valeria if he does not want to. He then tells Caius that if lin refuses to marry him, then he will have someone to send him back to England. He kneels before Caius and kneels down to greet him. He says that Caius is worth to learn, and that he kneels to greet Caius's "great father in law." Caius kneels again, and Caius asks him to come with him to the groom's court. He tells him to hurry up and get married, since he and Valeria have already "deeply bonded." He then asks Caius if he can wait until the next day to tell Valeria the truth. He wants to tell her the truth now, but Caius says that it would be better if he waited until tomorrow. He asks Valeria to hold up for a second, but she says that she wants to eat
