At the beginning of this chapter, we are introduced to Claudio, an eighteen-year-old student at the school. He is a member of the school's soccer team, which is preparing for its first game of the season. Claudio tells us that he wants to leave the school and join the other students in order to "do what it takes" for the team's success. He explains that his coach has told him that he should probably just "get over it" , but that only until Friday will he be able to do so. Claudio admits that he wishes he had been happier with his life before Delia's intervention. He says that Delia had made the team "less crazy" and more "nourished goth girls" . He also says that he would have liked to have won an "idiotic test game" and gotten rid of Leon. He then goes on to say that he was surprised that the team did not win the test game and that they should have been more focused on the tournament that is to be held in the following week. Claudio then tells Delia that he is not going to "make a fool of himself" in front of everyone at school, and that he will not tell anyone about his affair with any of the girls on the team. Delia tells him that she moved the meeting to today so that the girls can prepare for their first game.
