This chapter opens with a description of the fight that took place at the bar between the two men. The two men are fighting over who is the better of the two, and the fight is interrupted by the arrival of Guppy's father, who is enraged that his son has assaulted him. He demands that the men put away their guns and that Guppy be thrown out of the bar.
