The two men sit down to have a drink and discuss the events of the previous day. The captain asks why he was framed, and the captain explains that his superiors wanted him to take blame for certain things. He explains that in this world, people can disappear at any time and no one will pay them any mind. In fact, he says, "fate" may have played a part in the whole thing. He tells the captain that he's not the only one who's been ruined by the destruction of his life. He says that the man who created the armored gull was also a victim of the same fate.
