Five years have passed since the launch of the Apollo capsule. The crew of the capsule has gathered in the middle of the night to watch the progress of the hydrogen fuel injection experiment. The experiment's lead scientist, Dr. Quantum, has been unable to make it to the capsule because of a technical problem. He tells the crew that he will be unable to participate in the second phase of the experiment because of the technical problems. The ship's crew is shocked to learn that the lead scientist has been killed in the explosion.
