The champion of the tournament, yechuan, tells the story of how he and Lanting fought and won. Lanting was the man who saved them when they ran into trouble. The tournament will be held outside of the palace, and the winner will receive the imperial treasure of the white dragon bone. The narrator tells us that the poem that he's been reading is about the "buffalo flower" and that women are like "the hibiscus flower." Lanting tells the narrator that he approached him because he wanted to use him as a mirror to get the bone for the dragon. He tells Lanting that there's no future between them, and that killing is prohibited. The emperor arrives and announces that the tournament has ended and that the prize for the champion is the "white dragon bone" .
