In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, the president's wife, and we are told that she has just returned to the White House after a long absence. She is very upset that the president has returned to his office, and she is upset that he has not been able to attend to her. She has also been very upset about the fact that the vice president has not attended to her, and has been unable to take care of her. The vice president, however, has been very kind to the president, and he has been kind to her in return. The president is very pleased with his wife's response to his questions about the state of affairs in the United States. He is also pleased that the situation in Japan has improved, and that there is no longer a threat of war between the two countries. He feels that he is doing a good job in handling the situation, and hopes that his wife will continue to be kind to him.
