About This Chapter
In this short scene, we learn that Hirokazu is in love with Izumi and wishes that he could paint with her right hand. We learn that he was wounded in the battle and that the only way to save him was to stop painting, and that's why he's so upset. He also tells us that he saw a student jealous of slashing Izumi's paintings to shreds and that he didn't intend to reproach the student for doing so. He says that he knew what had broken that student's heart, but he couldn't help him because the only thing that would save him would be to quit painting. This is the price he paid for not saving the student, and he asks why he is crying. He tells her that the student loved her looks like they were from his left hand and that she's always acting as though it's her first time painting with her left hand. He asks if she has stopped crying, and she says that she hasn't. She also tells him that the matter with her is that she won't be able to make him a face that he'd like, because she always acts as if it were his first time
