About This Chapter
The next day, the Ming family arrives at the palace, and the Ming men are surprised to see that the Ming women are dressed in their finest clothing. The Ming women, however, are not wearing their finest clothes. They are dressed as if they have just returned from a long journey. The men are shocked to see the Ming ladies in their finery, but they are not surprised at all. They do not know what to make of the women, and they do not want to upset the Mings, who are very loyal to the Ming Emperor. They also do not like the fact that the women in the Ming dresses are wearing fine clothes, which they believe is a sign of Ming pride. They feel that Ming women should be allowed to wear fine clothes as long as they are in Ming clothes, and Ming men should wear fine clothing as well.
