In this chapter, we are introduced to a number of characters who have been introduced in the previous chapters. The first of these characters is a young woman who has just returned from a trip to India. She has a terrible butt injury and needs to be helped to the washroom. She tells us that she and her husband are going to take a bath together and that she will keep her clothes on when they are done. The next day, she tells us, her butt is even worse and she needs help getting it out of the tub. She asks her husband to help her bathe, but he refuses. He tells her that it is a punishment for her to be so upset on the night of the wedding and that he will try to calm her down
